Windsor County - Do Good, Feel Good
Green Mountain Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (GMRSVP) is one of many opportunities for older adults to help out and volunteer in their communities. There are a variety opportunities waiting for volunteers all over Vermont.
Why join GMRSVP? GMRSVP matches older adults to the service that best fits their personal interest and makes use of their skills and experience. More than 40 non-profit organizations in Windsor County benefit from the efforts of GMRSVP Volunteers. These seniors, age 55 plus, help our community at hospitals, schools, Meals on Wheels programs, community meal sites, food shelves, Vermont Adult Learning, Bone Builder Classes, warming shelters, and, they provide companionship and transportation to homebound elders, saving our municipalities millions of dollars.
What are the benefits for volunteers? On duty accident and liability insurance is provided for GMRSVP volunteers, free of charge. Some transportation volunteers receive reimbursement for mileage. All GMRSVP volunteers and their work stations receive recognition for their service. Our volunteers report improved mental, emotional and physical health. “My volunteer work keeps me busy, useful and happy” says Carol Sheldon of Sharon.
Do you have an hour to give? Please call the GMRSVP Office at 802-674-4547 or go to rsvpvt.org for more information. GMRSVP is a program of the Senior Corp and proudly sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging.
