Another Successful Stuff the Bus/Food Drive!

The Staff at Green Mountain RSVP gives a hearty thank-you to those who volunteered at and those who donated to our food drives on Saturday, January 14th We are thankful for the generosity of the folks in Windham, Windsor and Bennington Counties. Buses were provided by Green Mountain Community Network and The Current. Stuff the Bus Food Drives were held simultaneously and we collected a total of almost 5000 lbs. of food, serving 14 food pantries in the three counties. RSVP recruits and places volunteers with many area nonprofits and organizations that deliver hot meals, staff food pantries, mentor students, give rides to seniors and help keep our aging population more connected to the comm

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.Green Mountain RSVP will participate by sponsoring food drives in each of our three counties on Saturday, January 14, 2017. #SeniorCorps

National Mentoring Month in January was launched in 2002 by The National Mentoring Partnership and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. It focuses attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us- individuals, businesses, schools, and nonprofits – can work together to increase the number of youth mentors and help ensure positive outcomes for young people in our communities. AARP Tax-Aide Program in Bennington

Each year at income tax time AARP offers free tax preparation. This nation-wide program serves millions of tax-payers. Although special emphasis is on low and middle incomes and older taxpayers, there is no income level or age limit. There are however some limits on complexity.
